Pharmacist – Parker Indian Health Center
Location: 12033 Agency Road, Parker, AZ 85344
Schedule: Full-Time | 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Position Overview

Parker Indian Health Center is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to provide high-quality pharmaceutical care and support within our pharmacy services team. This role ensures continuity of pharmacy operations across multiple Indian Health Service (IHS) facilities, helping minimize disruptions caused by staffing shortages. The position is part of a 12-month base contract with the possibility of four (4) one-year option periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen patient charts to verify medication orders against chart notes, labs, vitals, and allergies.
  • Process, fill, and check prescription orders for accuracy and safety.
  • Educate patients on medication therapy, side effects, and safe usage.
  • Collaborate with providers and the pharmacy team to ensure timely, accurate pharmaceutical care.
  • Answer provider questions regarding drug therapy and clarify orders when appropriate.
  • Identify and respond to life-threatening emergencies and adverse medication reactions.
  • Manage patient refill requests and enter outside prescriptions into the system.
  • Conduct controlled substance audits when directed.
  • Assist with inventory management, including unpacking and storing orders.
  • Prepare IV admixtures and inpatient drug distribution in accordance with Service Unit policies.
  • Administer immunizations (with required certification).
  • Participate in mandatory training, including annual safety, infection control, and competency assessments.

Qualifications

  • Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the U.S.
  • Active immunization certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical pharmacy practices and patient education.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
  • Experience in emergency response and medication safety preferred.
  • Must successfully complete Indian Health Service security clearance, including fingerprinting and OIG exclusion list screening.

Additional Information

  • Position may require occasional coverage at other IHS Service Units (including Fort Yuma Health Center, Peach Springs Health Center, Hopi Health Care Center, Elko Service Unit, Phoenix Indian Medical Center, and Whiteriver Service Unit).
  • Coverage is on an as-needed basis to address staffing changes and patient care needs
