Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students in an elementary school setting in North Charleston, SC. This role involves providing 1:1 interpretation services to ensure effective munication and accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing students throughout the school year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation to facilitate munication between students, teachers, and staff
• Support academic and social participation during classroom instruction and school activities
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards within educational environments
• Collaborate with educators and specialists to meet students individual munication needs

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
• Minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.2 required
• Strong ability to interpret plex educational content effectively
• Excellent munication skills and cultural petence working with children
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Location: North Charleston, South Carolina
Assignment Type: Contract, full school year (NSY)
Support Ratio: 1:1 student support
