Job Title: EHS Specialist

Location: 100% Onsite – Newark, DE

Employment Type: Contract W2 (with potential extension and FTE conversion based on performance)

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to join our client’s Real Estate & Facilities team in Newark, DE. This role requires strong expertise in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement. You will be responsible for implementing and managing site-wide safety programs, conducting audits, leading investigations, and driving continuous improvement to foster a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration and improvement of EHS management systems, ensuring compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct and lead EHS compliance audits, identify risks, and implement corrective measures.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and oversee corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop, implement, and deliver safety training and employee engagement programs.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Support emergency response planning, crisis management, and site-specific action plans.
  • Track and report EHS performance metrics, using data to drive improvement.
  • Mentor junior EHS team members and support sustainability initiatives.
  • Serve as acting EHS Manager when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (Master’s a plus).
  • 5–7+ years of experience in EHS within manufacturing, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Advanced certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, and state/local EHS regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading audits, safety programs, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Skilled in incident investigations, hazard identification, and employee training.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with proven success in building safety-first cultures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS software for reporting and data analysis.

Contract Details

  • Pay Range: $42 – $50.72/hour (final rate determined after interview).
  • Location: 100% onsite in Newark, DE.
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, standard 8-hour shifts.
  • Contract: 6-month term with possibility of extension and/or conversion to full-time employment based on performance.
  • Interview Process: At least one onsite interview required.
